CTC → IN-HAND · FY 2026–27
A ₹2 lakh CTC is a first-job or entry-level package, and the good news is that it sits well below the taxable threshold, so income tax is typically zero under the FY 2026-27 new regime. Your monthly in-hand is mostly your gross salary minus employee PF (and any state professional tax), which means a large share of the package actually reaches your bank account each month.
This page uses the site's standard FY 2026-27 assumptions — estimated salary structure, new tax regime and Karnataka professional tax — so the numbers below act as a reliable starting point. The interactive calculator lets you switch to the old regime, pick your state or enter your exact structure to see how each deduction changes your take-home.
Because employer PF and gratuity are part of CTC but are not paid out as monthly cash, your in-hand is always lower than the simple CTC ÷ 12 figure. This breakdown shows exactly where every rupee goes.

ESTIMATED BREAKUP
These figures use the FY 2026-27 rules with the site’s default assumptions: new tax regime, Karnataka (professional tax of ₹2,400/year), estimated structure (basic ≈ 40% of fixed pay), employee & employer PF at 12% of basic, no PF wage cap, and variable pay assumed fully payable. Actual in-hand salary varies with your employer’s salary structure, location, tax declarations and PF configuration — always verify with your payslip and use the calculator above for your own inputs.
STEP BY STEP
| Component | Annual | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Annual CTC | ₹2,00,000 | ₹16,667 |
| Gross salary (annual) | ₹1,87,397 | ₹15,616 |
| Employee PF | -₹8,995 | -₹750 |
| Professional tax | -₹2,400 | -₹200 |
| Income tax | ₹-0 | ₹-0 |
| Annual in-hand | ₹1,76,002 | ₹14,667 |
At a ₹2 Lakh CTC CTC (₹2,00,000 a year), the in-hand figure depends on what part of the package is cash and what is employer contribution or non-cash benefit. Under the estimated structure used here, employer PF and gratuity are part of CTC but are not paid to you as salary, while employee PF, professional tax and income tax are deducted from your cash pay. That is why your monthly in-hand is lower than the simple CTC ÷ 12 figure.
Your actual breakup may differ if your basic-to-HRA mix, PF basis or tax regime is different. The calculator shows every deduction and its assumptions so you can compare offers or budget for your take-home pay.
REGIME CHOICE
Whether you file under the new or old regime changes both your income tax and your in-hand. Using the same estimated structure and Karnataka, the figures for a ₹2,00,000 CTC compare as follows.
| Item | New regime | Old regime |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly in-hand | ₹14,667 | ₹14,667 |
| Annual income tax | ₹0 | ₹0 |
| Annual in-hand | ₹1,76,002 | ₹1,76,002 |
The old-regime estimate only applies the standard ₹50,000 deduction plus employee PF (Section 80C). If you claim other deductions such as HRA, 80C investments or a home-loan interest, your old-regime tax would be lower than shown here — use the calculator with your actual claims.
BY LOCATION
Professional tax is a small state levy deducted from your salary each month. Moving between the states below changes this deduction (and therefore your in-hand) by a modest amount — these are the annual figures and the resulting monthly in-hand for a ₹2,00,000 CTC under the new regime.
| State | Annual professional tax | Monthly in-hand (new regime) |
|---|---|---|
| Karnataka | ₹2,400 | ₹14,667 |
| Maharashtra | ₹2,500 | ₹14,659 |
| Tamil Nadu | ₹2,500 | ₹14,659 |
| West Bengal | ₹2,400 | ₹14,667 |
| Telangana | ₹2,400 | ₹14,667 |
| Delhi | ₹0 | ₹14,867 |

Under the new regime with the default estimated structure at ₹2 LPA, income tax is usually zero after the standard deduction. Monthly in-hand is therefore close to the monthly gross figure shown in the breakdown above, after only employee PF and Karnataka professional tax are deducted.
Almost certainly not under the new regime. Even before the ₹75,000 standard deduction, a ₹2 lakh CTC is far below the ₹4 lakh tax-free threshold, so the applicable tax is ₹0. This holds for most employer structures.
The common deductions are employee PF (about 12% of your basic salary) and, where your state charges it, a small professional tax (for example ₹2,400 a year in Karnataka). There is normally no income tax at this level under the new regime.
Yes. CTC includes employer contributions such as employer PF and gratuity, while gross salary is the cash amount before deductions. At this salary level employer contributions are only a few thousand rupees a year, so the gap is smaller than at higher packages.
METHODOLOGY & SOURCES
Every figure on this page is computed for a ₹2,00,000 CTC using the site's salary engine, which applies the FY 2026-27 rules with these explicit assumptions: the new tax regime, the ₹75,000 standard deduction, an estimated salary structure (basic ≈ 40% of fixed pay), employee and employer PF at 12% of basic, no PF wage cap, and Karnataka professional tax of ₹2,400 a year. Each deduction is shown as a separate line so you can verify the arithmetic yourself.
The rules reflect the official sources below and are re-verified each financial year: the Income Tax Department (incometax.gov.in) for tax slabs, standard deduction and Section 87A rebate, and theEmployees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) for the 12% PF contribution rates. Figures are estimates for planning and comparison — your employer’s actual salary structure, benefits and tax declarations determine your real payslip.
