CTC → IN-HAND · FY 2026–27
₹25 lakh CTC is a senior-level package where tax planning matters. Under the FY 2026-27 new regime, taxable income after the standard deduction lands in the 20–24L band at a 25% marginal rate, so income tax is the single largest deduction from your pay.
Using the site's engine with the estimated structure, new regime and Karnataka professional tax, this page shows your monthly gross, every monthly deduction and the exact monthly and annual in-hand. Switching to the old regime or comparing states in the calculator gives you the full picture before you negotiate.
At this level in-hand usually works out to roughly 68–73% of the monthly CTC, and the line-by-line breakdown below makes each component transparent.

ESTIMATED BREAKUP
These figures use the FY 2026-27 rules with the site’s default assumptions: new tax regime, Karnataka (professional tax of ₹2,400/year), estimated structure (basic ≈ 40% of fixed pay), employee & employer PF at 12% of basic, no PF wage cap, and variable pay assumed fully payable. Actual in-hand salary varies with your employer’s salary structure, location, tax declarations and PF configuration — always verify with your payslip and use the calculator above for your own inputs.
STEP BY STEP
| Component | Annual | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Annual CTC | ₹25,00,000 | ₹2,08,333 |
| Gross salary (annual) | ₹24,31,637 | ₹2,02,636 |
| Employee PF | -₹21,600 | -₹1,800 |
| Professional tax | -₹2,400 | -₹200 |
| Income tax | -₹3,00,725 | -₹25,060 |
| Annual in-hand | ₹21,06,912 | ₹1,75,576 |
At a ₹25 Lakh CTC CTC (₹25,00,000 a year), the in-hand figure depends on what part of the package is cash and what is employer contribution or non-cash benefit. Under the estimated structure used here, employer PF and gratuity are part of CTC but are not paid to you as salary, while employee PF, professional tax and income tax are deducted from your cash pay. That is why your monthly in-hand is lower than the simple CTC ÷ 12 figure.
Your actual breakup may differ if your basic-to-HRA mix, PF basis or tax regime is different. The calculator shows every deduction and its assumptions so you can compare offers or budget for your take-home pay.
REGIME CHOICE
Whether you file under the new or old regime changes both your income tax and your in-hand. Using the same estimated structure and Karnataka, the figures for a ₹25,00,000 CTC compare as follows.
| Item | New regime | Old regime |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly in-hand | ₹1,75,576 | ₹1,55,526 |
| Annual income tax | ₹3,00,725 | ₹5,41,331 |
| Annual in-hand | ₹21,06,912 | ₹18,66,306 |
The old-regime estimate only applies the standard ₹50,000 deduction plus employee PF (Section 80C). If you claim other deductions such as HRA, 80C investments or a home-loan interest, your old-regime tax would be lower than shown here — use the calculator with your actual claims.
BY LOCATION
Professional tax is a small state levy deducted from your salary each month. Moving between the states below changes this deduction (and therefore your in-hand) by a modest amount — these are the annual figures and the resulting monthly in-hand for a ₹25,00,000 CTC under the new regime.
| State | Annual professional tax | Monthly in-hand (new regime) |
|---|---|---|
| Karnataka | ₹2,400 | ₹1,75,576 |
| Maharashtra | ₹2,500 | ₹1,75,568 |
| Tamil Nadu | ₹2,500 | ₹1,75,568 |
| West Bengal | ₹2,400 | ₹1,75,576 |
| Telangana | ₹2,400 | ₹1,75,576 |
| Delhi | ₹0 | ₹1,75,776 |

Under the new regime with the default estimated structure, a ₹25 LPA CTC gives roughly the monthly in-hand figure in the breakdown above after income tax, employee PF and professional tax. The result depends on your regime, state and exact structure.
Under the new regime, taxable income after the standard deduction falls in the 20–24L band taxed at 25%. The calculator shows the complete slab-wise tax plus the 4% health and education cess.
For most people without heavy deductions, yes. The old regime's 30% rate on income above ₹10L usually makes it costlier unless you can reduce income significantly through 80C, HRA and other claims. Use the calculator's regime toggle to compare your own figures.
Income tax is larger at senior levels, and employee PF plus employer-only contributions (employer PF and gratuity) further separate CTC from cash take-home. The breakdown above isolates each line so you can see exactly what is withheld.
METHODOLOGY & SOURCES
Every figure on this page is computed for a ₹25,00,000 CTC using the site's salary engine, which applies the FY 2026-27 rules with these explicit assumptions: the new tax regime, the ₹75,000 standard deduction, an estimated salary structure (basic ≈ 40% of fixed pay), employee and employer PF at 12% of basic, no PF wage cap, and Karnataka professional tax of ₹2,400 a year. Each deduction is shown as a separate line so you can verify the arithmetic yourself.
The rules reflect the official sources below and are re-verified each financial year: the Income Tax Department (incometax.gov.in) for tax slabs, standard deduction and Section 87A rebate, and theEmployees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) for the 12% PF contribution rates. Figures are estimates for planning and comparison — your employer’s actual salary structure, benefits and tax declarations determine your real payslip.
