₹15 Lakh CTC In-Hand Salary

₹15 lakh is a common mid-senior package where income tax becomes a real consideration. Under the FY 2026-27 new regime, taxable income after the ₹75,000 standard deduction falls in the 12–16% slab band, so income tax starts to take a meaningful share of your pay.

This page uses the site's calculation engine with the estimated structure, new regime and Karnataka professional tax to show your monthly gross, every monthly deduction and the resulting in-hand figure. The numbers change if you opt for the old regime, live in a different state or have an exact structure, all of which you can model in the calculator.

As a rule, in-hand at this level is roughly 74–78% of the monthly CTC, with employee PF, income tax and professional tax being the main deductions from gross.

STEP BY STEP

How 15 LPA maps to in-hand

Annual CTC₹15,00,000₹1,25,000
Gross salary (annual)₹14,50,505₹1,20,875
Employee PF-₹21,600-₹1,800

Income tax-₹89,779-₹7,482
Annual in-hand₹13,36,726₹1,11,394

What counts as in-hand at 15 LPA?

At a ₹15 Lakh CTC CTC (₹15,00,000 a year), the in-hand figure depends on what part of the package is cash and what is employer contribution or non-cash benefit. Under the estimated structure used here, employer PF and gratuity are part of CTC but are not paid to you as salary, while employee PF, professional tax and income tax are deducted from your cash pay. That is why your monthly in-hand is lower than the simple CTC ÷ 12 figure.

Your actual breakup may differ if your basic-to-HRA mix, PF basis or tax regime is different. The calculator shows every deduction and its assumptions so you can compare offers or budget for your take-home pay.

REGIME CHOICE

New vs old tax regime at this CTC

Whether you file under the new or old regime changes both your income tax and your in-hand. Using the same estimated structure and Karnataka, the figures for a ₹15,00,000 CTC compare as follows.

ItemNew regimeOld regime
Monthly in-hand₹1,11,394₹99,274
Annual income tax₹89,779₹2,35,219
Annual in-hand₹13,36,726₹11,91,286

The old-regime estimate only applies the standard ₹50,000 deduction plus employee PF (Section 80C). If you claim other deductions such as HRA, 80C investments or a home-loan interest, your old-regime tax would be lower than shown here — use the calculator with your actual claims.

BY LOCATION

How your state changes professional tax and in-hand

Professional tax is a small state levy deducted from your salary each month. Moving between the states below changes this deduction (and therefore your in-hand) by a modest amount — these are the annual figures and the resulting monthly in-hand for a ₹15,00,000 CTC under the new regime.

StateAnnual professional taxMonthly in-hand (new regime)
Karnataka₹2,400₹1,11,394
Maharashtra₹2,500₹1,11,386

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much is ₹15 LPA in-hand per month?

Under the new regime with the default estimated structure, a ₹15 LPA CTC produces roughly the monthly in-hand shown in the breakdown above after income tax, employee PF and professional tax. The result shifts with your regime, state and exact structure.

How much tax does a ₹15 LPA salary pay?

Under the new regime, taxable income after the ₹75,000 standard deduction falls in the 12–16L slab at 15%. The calculator shows the complete tax line, including any rebate, cess and surcharge where applicable.

Is the old or new regime better at ₹15 LPA?

If you have few eligible deductions, the new regime usually wins because of its lower rate on the first ₹16 lakh of taxable income. If you claim large Section 80C and other deductions, the old regime can be cheaper — the calculator compares both side by side.

How much of a ₹15 LPA CTC is paid as employer contribution?

In the estimated structure, employer PF and gratuity together are a few lakh a year. They are part of your CTC but are not paid as monthly cash, which is the main reason your in-hand is below CTC ÷ 12.

METHODOLOGY & SOURCES

How these estimates are calculated

Every figure on this page is computed for a ₹15,00,000 CTC using the site's salary engine, which applies the FY 2026-27 rules with these explicit assumptions: the new tax regime, the ₹75,000 standard deduction, an estimated salary structure (basic ≈ 40% of fixed pay), employee and employer PF at 12% of basic, no PF wage cap, and Karnataka professional tax of ₹2,400 a year. Each deduction is shown as a separate line so you can verify the arithmetic yourself.

The rules reflect the official sources below and are re-verified each financial year: the Income Tax Department (incometax.gov.in) for tax slabs, standard deduction and Section 87A rebate, and theEmployees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) for the 12% PF contribution rates. Figures are estimates for planning and comparison — your employer’s actual salary structure, benefits and tax declarations determine your real payslip.
